Dear Members of the Wynberg-Allen family,
Thank you for everything!
It was difficult to think of a way to convey our feelings of gratitude and love to each one of you who made everything possible and I felt that the only way was to write an open letter to the Wynberg-Allen family.
No names are necessary in this letter because the event, a celebration marking the 125th year of our alma mater, was destined to be a success – a result of the contribution of each and every one of the family; from those who were here, to those who took the time and trouble to come back home from far and wide and those who were unable to come, yet were here in spirit all the way.
To work and to organize is the easy part and the staff and students of the school did so willingly and wonderfully well. However, no event of any kind is possible let alone  successful without the people it’s meant for. What stands out far more than the performance, decorations or arrangements is the love and support of generations of Alwynians. The song from the musical, ‘The Lion King’ is still ringing in our ears with the line that perhaps sums up all the festivities and the occasion – ‘Can you feel the love tonight?’ Those of us here, at Wynberg-Allen, certainly felt the love flow and were blessed and inspired by it.
I think God did too ; the weather held and countless prayers were answered. Our Founders would be well pleased with the shape their vision has taken and it is abundantly clear that the school has made great strides and achieved enormous success due to the contribution of outstanding people through the ages and the present generation of Alwynians and staff are privileged to have been bequeathed this great heritage.
The attendance of each one of you, your love for Wynberg-Allen, your unflinching faith in your alma mater and your support and prayers are not only the bedrock on which every success of the school today stands but is also the single outstanding reason for the wonderful celebration that took place.
To each and everyone in the Wynberg-Allen family, the Chairman Mr Karan Singha, Members of the Board of Management and Wynberg Homes Society, the staff and students of the school, the devoted service staff, parents and our extraordinary Alumni, a very big heartfelt ‘Thank you’!
