The School Band 2016
The Wynberg-Allen School band came together in 2014 as a flute and percussion band. It made its debut at the Junior School Athletics Meet on Saturday, 27 September, 2014. In spite of being fairly new, it has gone from strength to strength under the tutelage of Mr David Lal. What started as a distant dream for the students is now fast developing into an almost full-fledged School Band, with a variety of instruments being introduced and more and more young musicians vying to be a part of it. This year flutes, clarinets and trumpets have been introduced into the ensemble.
The tune that the bandmaster has selected for this year’s Annual Inter-house Athletics Meet is "The Thunderer", a march composed by John Philip Sousa in 1889.
