Chemistry

The course that is being followed currently in school covers a wide range of Chemistry, with plenty of opportunity for practical work, and provides a very solid foundation from which to transfer to further study with confidence.

All the fundamentals of the subject are covered via a variety of methods, involving much practical work, teacher demonstrations and data-logging activities, together with time dedicated to covering the theory and developing an understanding of the underlying principles of the subject.

The curriculum for Chemistry has been designed keeping the following aims and objectives in mind:

  1. To acquire the knowledge of terms, concepts, processes, techniques, and principles related to the subject.
  2. To develop the ability to apply the knowledge of contents and principles of Chemistry in unfamiliar situations.
  3. To acquire skills in proper handling of apparatus and chemicals.
  4. To develop a scientific temper, attitude and problem solving skills.
  5. To apprise students with interface of Chemistry with other disciplines of Science, such as, Physics, Biology, Geology, Engineering etc.
