The teaching of music at Wynberg-Allen balances all music-making through the sharpening of listening skills, enhancement of musical awareness and gradual increase of musical knowledge through the study of great musical masterpieces. Music lessons begin in Class 1 and music is an integral part of all the school activities and important functions.

In Classes 1 & 2 the children are introduced to the basic concepts of rhythm, melody and harmony, as well as various instruments and styles of music. Class work includes group singing, drama, and creating music with voice, and other instruments. There are many opportunities for solo and group performance.
